Our open letter to Mayor Bernero regarding the police chief

Some of you may have seen the WLNS story regarding a letter seven neighborhood associations sent to Mayor Bernero encouraging him to select a police chief who lives in the city of Lansing.  A copy of this letter is attached below.  It is also worth noting that this letter was drafted and sent during the period after former Chief Szymanski had announced her resignation, but before an interim chief was named.  The WNA would like to reiterate the sentiment that Officer Yankowski has done a wonderful job in his previous capacity, and that we hold him in high esteem.  We do hope that he, or whomever is named as the new chief will seriously look at living in the city we all love.
