Learn about dangers of lead in your home and the latest Lansing lead study Free workshop on May 17 at NorthWest Initiative!

Learn about the danger of lead in common household products and materials in your home! When lead comes in contact with the poison lead, our body may slowly “shut down” itself. The cumulative presence of lead attacks the nervous system and poisons brains, leading to eyesight destruction, kidney failure, and central nervous system destruction (especially in children). Most of the time, the process of lead accumulation and poisoning of our bodies proceeds slowly and goes undetected. Join us from 11:30-1 pm, Thursday, May 17, at NorthWest Inititaive to find out about the latest Lansing lead report and how to protect your family from lead poisoning! Robert L Scott, Ph.D, acting coordinator and data manager for the Michigan Department of Community Health Healthy Homes and Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (HHLPP), is the guest speaker. Light refreshments will be served to those who RSVP by calling 517.999.2894 or emailing northwest.lansing@gmail.org. NorthWest Initiative is at 530 W. Ionia, Suite D, Lansing, (in the Michigan Optometric Association Building). Free parking is located in the lot off Pine Street on the northside of the building.
